An Issue is a SystemWeaver object intended for the management of administrative processes and activities like change requests, problem reports or work tasks. Changes to an issue are done in an issue editor. This article describes how to modify an existing issue in a CMS project.
- You must have "Write" access rights to the CMS project
Where to Modify an Issue
Issues can be modified via a issue view in a project or via the Issues view. Both options provide the issue editor located in the right-side pane.
Issue View in Project
|Tip: You can also use the Ctrl+Alt+O shortcut to open an undocked Edit Issue dialog. Under Projects, this would allow you to view multiple issues at the same time.|
Select the issue that you want to modify. In the above example, the issue is "Change order to Power Support New". It will load in the editor to the right. Assuming their are no restrictions configured, users with "Write" access can change any of the following elements at any time.
- Assigned To
- Iteration (if in use)
- Add a new note
- Relationships (Item and Issue references)
The Properties that cannot be changed are:
Click the Change button to the right and select another available Type value.
Modify the value directly in the Name text box. The update is immediate.
To change the Status, select another value from either the drop-down list or via the Change dialog. With either option, due to transition restraints, only allowed statuses will be listed.
Using the Change option enables you to add a status change comment which will be included as note.
To change the Assigned To value, you can either click Clear or select another value using the Change button.

If iterations are in use, you can modify this as well. To change the iteration that an issue belongs to, you can either click Clear or select another value using the Change button.
The Attributes section lists the attributes of the issue, according to the type of the issue. If the issue has attributes associated with it, you can modify any of them by using the provided edit tools. Below is an example.
|Note: Issues have only default attributes, i.e., you cannot add additional attributes on-the-fly.|
Attachments to Issues work in much the same as attachments for items. The biggest difference is that there is no versioning of issues and issue attachments. This also means that there cannot be more than one attachment with the same name for a single issue. You can add an attachment by using the Add attachment... button, which will open the Windows open file dialog, or by drag&drop of the file into the Attachments section.
The Description contains the description of the issue. Modifying content can be done directly in the embedded description or in the pop-up description editor in the same way as for items.
This section lists all logged events for the issue. You can also add a note using Add Note, but you cannot modify an existing note.
Batch Modifying Issues
The issue editor supports batch modification of issues for most properties and attributes. Just as with items, your changes will apply in those instances where it is allowed, e.g., there may be restrictions in place. Typically, you would be updating issues of the same issue type, but the functionality does technically allow you to select issues of different types as well.
When you select multiple issues, the issue editor pane will display any common values for properties, and will display null or blank values when the issues have different values.
Any values you enter will apply to all selected issues and will replace any existing values. Any Properties that you do not edit will remain unchanged.
For attributes, it will display any common attributes and any common values in them for the selected issues and highlight, in yellow, any attributes where the values are not identical.

Different Issue Types
In the above examples, the two attributes are of the same type. If issues are of different types, only the common attributes will display as shown below.
