An Issue is a SystemWeaver object intended for the management of administrative processes and activities like change requests, problem reports or work tasks, as part of a Change Management System Project in SystemWeaver. Most work with issues is done on the Projects tab, but there is also an Issues view where you can view all of the issues linked to an item or to an entire item structure.

Prerequisites

  • You must have a minimum of "Read" access to the CMS project to view issue details in the right-hand issue editor
  • You must have "Write" access to the CMS project to create or modify issues via the view

Select an item or the top-item in a structure and select the Issues view via the Items Ribbon or by selecting it in the View drop-down list.

Getting Acquainted with the View

When you select an item in the tree, the view will display all issues linked to the item.

The view consists of two panes:

  • An issues list to the left which also displays the associated project names for the issues
  • An issue editor to the right which gives a full record view of the issue and can be used to edit a selected issue(s)

Issue List

The Issue list displays all issues linked to the selected item, and optionally, all those linked to the sub-items in its item structure as well.

By default, the following information is displayed:

  • Issue ID
  • Name
  • Issue status
  • Assigned to

Tip: It is possible to add additional columns on-the-fly if you need to for your task at hand.

When you select an issue in the list, that issue will be shown in the issue editor pane to the right as indicated by the arrow in the above picture. It is a type of full record display where you can read and modify the issue. The indicator column in the structure tree to the left will light up as well, indicating the item(s) that have references to the issue.

The Issues view supports multi-select of issues, in which case the issue editor with display all common properties of the selected items, while others will be blank. Any editing will be applied to all the selected items.

As with all list views, when you are working in the view, you can use the Find options in the Find group to search for specific issues in the list.

List Options

You will find the following options available below the list. If multiple options are selected, each of them will be applied (ANDed together).

Include Subitems: This option will list the issues of all visible items in the item structure of the selected item. Note that due to the tree view setting not all sub-items may be listed.

Include issues for older versions of items: This option will include the issues of older versions of the item. If used together with Include Subitems, it will apply for those as well.

Include issues for all versions: This option includes issues of all versions (i.e., older as well as newer) of the selected item.

The following operations are available via the right-click menu.

Creating Another Similar Issue

The right-click context menu offers an Another issue option for creating an issue with identical properties as another selected issue.

Note: The assumption is that that you will change at least one property of the new issue, since duplicate identical issues would be meaningless.

Exporting

The Export sub-menu offers various options for exporting the selected issue(s). You can export issues to Excel, CSV or XML. The option to export in XML format could be used, for example, for possible subsequent import to SystemWeaver.

Open Issue

Select Open issue to open the selected issue in the project.

Copy

Use Copy to put a reference to the selected issue in the clipboard.

Project Banners

All issues belong to a project. Not only does the view display the issues, but it also displays the project(s) that these issues are part of. The projects appear as ribbons above the issue list. The colors in the ribbon represent the issue status (color) of the issues in the project.

If you click on one of the project banners, the issue list will include only those issues that belong to the project.

If you click on any of the colors in project ribbon, only issues with the corresponding status will be listed.

Issue Editor

The issue editor pane to the right is the same as the one in the issue views in Projects. See Modifying an Issue for an explanation of how to work with the editor.
