The Test configuration view is where you can set your Test System and System Under Test (SUT) during preparation for Test Execution. This article describes the view and how to use it.

Prerequisites

  • SystemWeaver Test meta model for Test Development and Test Execution
  • An SW Architect has activated the extension view via Configure the explorer

The view is available within the context of a Test (SID=JSES). A Test represents a test of the System Under Test (SUT), e.g., a brake EUC, as part of a Test System, e.g., a rig, according to a Test Specification. (See Abstract Artifact in Test Meta Model and Views for an explanation of these artifacts.)

Select your Test item structure and load the view either by selecting it via the Items Ribbon or in the View drop-down list under Test.

Getting Acquainted with the View

The view consists of two sections - one for Test System Configuration and the other for System Under Test. Both can be used, or your organization may choose to use only one.

Two pane splitters are available to optimize your viewing of, e.g., a Rig structure and/or Description content.

As with all standard grids in SystemWeaver, it is possible to do some customization on-the-fly, e.g., change column widths, view additional information, etc. for your current viewing needs.

Test System Configuration

In Test System Configuration at the top of the view, you will see the Test System for the selected Test. Any attributes on the Test System will display as columns, and the Description will display below the Test System structure. The Description can be edited directly in the view, if the Test System is in Work status and you have the necessary access rights.

If the SUT is part of the Test System Configuration, it will be indicated in the System Under Test column.

Green indicates a version match with the SUT and yellow indicates a version mismatch.

System Under Test

In System Under Test (SUT), you can see the SUT's item Properties at the top.

Any attributes on the SUT item will display next. If the SUT is in Work status, and you have the necessary access rights, these attributes can be edited.

The Description will display below the SUT structure, and can be edited as well.

A right-click context menu in both panes offer our standard tree options to Expand/Collapse, Open item, etc.:

Setting a Test System or SUT

To add a Test System and/or System Under Test to the selected Test structure, click Set for each needed system.

The Select type dialog will display where you can make your selection.

The Test System and/or System Under Test selected will be added to the Test structure.

Removing a Test System or SUT

Either system can be removed from the Test structure via the view by clicking the respective Clear button.

Adding a Test System as a SUT

In the case where you want to use the Test System as the test object, you can do this in the view by right-clicking on the SUT and selecting Set as test object

If there is currently no SUT in the Test structure, the Test System will be added to the Test as a SUT without a confirmation dialog.

If the Test already has a SUT, use the presented confirm dialog to replace the existing SUT with the Test System in the Test.
