The following SQL databases are currently supported by SystemWeaver:

• SQLite
• MS SQL Server (see Checklist for MS SQL Database)
• PostgreSQL (R53 and later)
• Oracle (only supported with SystemWeaver releases R52 and earlier)

SystemWeaver highly recommends using SQLite in part because of the performance advantages over the others. 

If considering the use of MS SQL Server vs PostgreSQL, we recommend PostgreSQL as it performs about as well as SQLite, and much better than MS SQL.

SQLite

No latency as the SQLite file is stored on the SystemWeaver server.

Fastest start-up time.

No costs for additional hardware. The file is stored on the same machine as the server.

Runtime backup option provided.

The benefits of future optimization of SystemWeaver will be greater for systems running SQLite.
