Just as with items, users can upload attachment files to issues in a CMS Project.  This article describes how to add and open attachments using the issue editor. This can be done under Projects or via the Issues view

Prerequisites

  • You must have "Write" access rights to the CMS project to add an attachment
  • The server installation is configured with a file repository

Adding an Attachment

You can add an attachment to an issue in the following ways using the issue editor.

Use Attach File Button

  1. Click on Attach file... to open the Windows Open file dialog where you select the file to attach and click Open.
  2. Enter an optional comment for the attachment upload in the Add comment dialog, and click OK to upload.

Using the Context Menu

  1. Right-click anywhere in the Attachments section and select Attach file....
  2. Enter an optional comment for the attachment upload in the Add comment dialog, and click OK to upload.

Drag and Drop

  1. Drag a file from Windows Explorer and drop it in the Attachments section of the issue editor.

  2. You will get a confirmation message before the file is actually attached. Click Add Files.:

  3. Enter an optional comment for the attachment upload in the Add comment dialog, and click OK to upload.

Tip: If you want to attach an email from MS Outlook, you must first store the email as a file, and then store the file as an attachment. An easy way to do this is to select the email in Outlook, then drag&drop the email into a Windows folder (like your Desktop). You can then drag&drop the file into swExplorer.

Opening an Attachment

You can open an attachment by double-clicking on the attachment in the Attachments section.

You can also right-click on an attachment and select Open Attachment.

The file will then be opened by the application registered for the file type.

An alternative to directly opening the file is to download the file to a Windows folder and then opening the document in Windows.
