The content of my document is not scaling properly.
Example
Resolution
If you change your Windows Display Scaling during a Windows session while your client application is open, this may cause scaling issues. See Scaling and Paper Size Considerations When Printing.
I am missing content in my PDF output.
Resolution
Either the missing content exists in an item or part type that is not included in the Report XML definition, or you may not have access rights to the items containing the "missing" information. Contact your System Architect to inquire about missing content.
A table in an item description is cut-off in the PDF.
Example
Resolution
Tables contained within an item description will autosize if the table is set to autosize in the Table properties. See Working with Tables in Description.
My image is cut-off in the PDF.
Example
Resolution
Images do not auto-resize so they will need to be resized by the user. There is a page-width indicator line option that an Architect can configure that can work as a visual guideline for users. See Configuring Description Page Width Preview. In general, for A4, it is usually around 18 cm:
The Image Editor may also be useful.
A table that I defined in the Report XML Definition is cut-off.
Example
Resolution
if you have fixed widths for <Table> columns in your report, you may find that these fixed widths together with a specified margin will put your document width "over the edge" causing the table to be cut-off in the printed result. See Specifying Margins for Printed Reports/Documents.
When I select CutePDF Writer and click Print, I get an Access violation.
Resolution
Check if you have more than one CutePDF Writer installed. If so, remove one of them.
When I try to print, I get an Access violation.
Resolution
If you are printing to a PDF printer other than the "Microsoft Print to PDF" printer, try using that one instead. We recommend "Microsoft Print to PDF".
I am unable to print my document.
Error
Printer is not currently printing.
Resolution
Check to see if a file with the same name already exists in the selected location and is open in another application, e.g., Adobe Reader. You must close the file before you can replace it with a new printout. If this does not resolve the problem, contact your internal IT support to see if they can resolve the problem with the printer. If you believe that the issue resides within the swExplorer application, email support@systemweaver.com and provide the steps to recreate the problem.
I am getting a message that printing is in progress when I try to print a document.
Error
Printing in progress
Resolution
The "Printing in progress." message indicates that a print job is in progress. It is not typically an error message. Try each of the following to resolve it.
- Use the Microsoft Print to PDF printer.
- Click Print directly, and bypass the Print Preview.
- Be sure to click the Print button only once.
- Check if there are print jobs queued up in the Microsoft Print to PDF print queue in Windows.
- Restart the computer.
- Close all other tabs/items in the client so only that document is open when you try to print.
- Try printing the document again and, at the same time, watch the swExplorer.exe client in Task manager to see if Memory gets up to about 3 500 000 K (3.5 GB) to rule out that it is not a memory issue.
My PDF document is empty.
Resolution
Check the size of the PDF file. If it is zero (0) the printing is not completed. You can also check the swExplorer.exe in the Task Manager. If the memory size for the swExplorer in the Task Manager is still growing/moving, the data retrieval is still in progress. Wait until the size of the PDF file has a file size greater than zero (0) and is no longer growing in size before opening the PDF file.
I cannot open the PDF file.
Error
Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open "XXX.pdf" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged.
Cannot open this file.
Resolution
Verify if the printing is still in progress. You can do this by
- Viewing the printing process in the Task manager by verifying there that the memory size of the swExplorer is stable, i.e., no longer growing, or by viewing the print spooling process
- Viewing the print queue to see if the printing is still in process
- Verifying that the PDF file size is stable, i.e., the file size is no longer changing. If it continues to change, the print process is not complete.
