It is very common to assign attributes to item and part types so that users can enter information in a structured manner.

Although not frequently used, it is possible to restrict the view of an attribute that for whatever reason should not be visible as an attribute to the users. Such information is still being used, but would typically be visible in some other form. This article describes how to hide an attribute in the swExplorer.
Prerequisites
- Assignment of the SW Architect role in the server
- An installation of the SystemWeaver Architect client (swArchitect)
- The attribute that is being restricted already exists
Log in to the server using the swArchitect client and navigate to the Attributes tab.
Find and select the attribute that will be hidden. RIght-click on it and select Edit.
In the Edit Attribute Type dialog, check Restricted.
The attribute will now be hidden from users in the views. In this example, ConfigId is still a default attribute for the item type, but it is hidden from users.

At any time, you can make the attribute visible again by unchecking the Restricted box.
